  • This project was one of details, balance and wide-open spaces. The space in which the kitchen inhabits is fairly large with ceilings up to 5m in height with large open crittall style windows framing the centre of the room and leading your eye into an expanse of greenery. A space designed and engendered by its owner, who created the steel framework in their garden. Working into each and every angle and ensuring structural perfection. Reflecting this detail and precision was then our prerogative. When designing this space, it was vital to keep in mind scale. Keeping each workable element of the room larger and simple in its creation allows the space to feel calm, grounded and functional. Providing a beautiful space that enriches the owners day to day lives in their final development property. "They're forever home". Using our traditional beading to frame our shaker style door frame we add a slice of decoration and femininity to the room, alongside the colour pallet of dusty earth, shell and milk tones.

As with all of the TF&S designs, practicality is key. Ensuring that each area of the design works hard and interacts appropriately with the next. The dresser that dominated the uninterrupted back wall houses all of the daily items they needed to get their hands on with ease. A hot tap and prep sink, with fridge below for milk and spreads. Plenty of deep shelves for daily dry goods, herbs and spices that are used daily are housed in spice racks. With full height shelving above and deep draws below for everyday crockery, tableware, mugs and glasses. Adding a hidden pantry, affording endless storage for the supplies, tins, bags and jars to provide an area that takes the things we do not always need or need to see.

To conclude the room, luxury and softness were keys to reflecting the property and ensuring the dwelling felt homely for the clients. This is where materials played their role. Dover White Quartzite, with swathes of cream, silvers, grey and coffee tones, pairing effortlessly with the ladylike tones on the cabinetry. Large statement pendants add an industrial nod reflecting the construction of the build and the customers’ structural background. Keeping appliances hidden from the eye or un-intrusive in the design retains a feeling of graciousness. A room, that you could spend a lot of time within, chatting around the curved bunket seating.
